Description:

Foliage: Carex pendula forms large clumps of arching, pendulous foliage. The leaves are long and narrow, reaching a length of up to 1 meter (3 feet). They are dark green in color and have a slightly drooping appearance.

Flowers: In late spring to early summer, Carex pendula produces tall flower spikes that emerge above the foliage. The flowers are inconspicuous and typically greenish-brown in color. They give way to small seedheads.

Habit: This sedge has a fountain-like habit, with the arching foliage cascading down from the center. The clumps can reach a height of 1.5 to 2 meters (5 to 6.5 feet) and a spread of about 1 meter (3 feet).
