With Plants for all Seasons's Live Delivery Guarantee, you can shop with complete peace of mind, knowing that your green investments are protected from our nursery to your doorstep.
Due to the sensitive and breakable nature of our products, it's understandable that damages may occur despite our meticulous packaging methods. If you find that your plant or pot has arrived in a less than satisfactory condition, please reach out to us at hello@plantsforallseasons.co.uk within a month of your delivery date. When contacting us, please provide your order reference, alongside a photo clearly showing the damaged item and its packaging, including the delivery label. We are committed to resolving such issues by offering a refund or a replacement, depending on the availability of the item in question.
We are unable to accept returns that are not related to damage because plants are inherently perishable and delicate. It's also worth noting that the plant you receive may slightly differ from the images displayed on our website. This variation is natural, given that each plant is unique and subject to seasonal growth changes.
At Plants for all Seasons, we recognise the critical role our courier partners play in ensuring the safe and secure delivery of your plants. Chlorophytum comosum ‘Variegatum’, more commonly known as the Variegated Spider Plant, is a much-loved classic that never goes out of style. Characterised by its arching green and creamy-white striped leaves, it’s admired for its air-purifying qualities, forgiving nature, and elegant, flowing form. As it matures, ‘Variegatum’ sends out slender flowering stems that produce charming baby plantlets (pups), which dangle like natural streamers — making it perfect for display in hanging pots. Whether hung in a kitchen, bathroom, conservatory or living room corner, this plant brings freshness and movement to any space. Easy to care for, fast-growing, and adaptable, it’s an ideal plant for beginners and plant stylists alike.
Indoors: Prefers bright, indirect light to maintain its variegation and vigour.
Low light: Tolerated well, but growth may slow and leaves may become more green.
Direct sun: Can tolerate some morning or late afternoon sun, but harsh midday light may scorch the leaves.
Ideal temperature: 16–27°C (60–80°F)
Minimum temperature: Keep above 10°C (50°F)
Humidity: Adaptable to most indoor conditions. Benefits from occasional misting in dry homes.
Watering frequency: Water when the top 3–5 cm of soil feels dry. Avoid letting the soil become soggy.
Winter: Water less often, especially in cooler, darker conditions.
Tip: Spider Plants are sensitive to chemicals — use filtered or rainwater if tap water causes leaf tips to brown.
Soil type: Well-draining general-purpose houseplant compost.
Pot type: Looks best in a hanging pot or basket, where its leaves and plantlets can cascade freely.
Drainage: Ensure pots have proper drainage holes to prevent root rot. Avoid standing water in decorative hangers.
Growing season (spring–summer): Feed every 4–6 weeks with a diluted liquid fertiliser.
Autumn–winter: Feed monthly or pause if the plant is dormant.
Pruning: Trim browned or damaged leaf tips and remove spent flowering stems to tidy the plant.
Pups: Remove or replant baby spider plants to refresh the mother plant and share with friends.
Leaf care: Wipe with a damp cloth to remove dust, especially on mature plants in bright areas.
Plantlets (pups): Extremely easy to propagate. Simply snip off plantlets with roots and pot them into moist compost.
Water rooting: Alternatively, root pups in water until roots are 2–3 cm long, then pot up.
Common pests: Generally pest-free, though may occasionally attract aphids or spider mites in very dry environments.
Symptoms: Leaf tip browning (often from tap water or overfeeding), faded leaves (low light), or limp growth (overwatering).
Treatment: Adjust watering and light. Use neem oil or insecticidal soap for pests.
Toxicity: Non-toxic to pets and humans — safe for households with cats, dogs, and children.
Bonus: Often recommended as a pet-friendly trailing plant.
Perfect in hanging pots or baskets in:
Bright kitchens, bathrooms, hallways, or sunny corners
Grouped with other hanging foliage plants for a cascading display
Mid-century or boho interiors where natural movement and soft texture is key
Adds freshness and light with its striped foliage — especially useful for breaking up darker leafy displays
Lovely for use in plant macramé or wall-mounted planters to maximise vertical space
