Due to the sensitive and breakable nature of our products, it's understandable that damages may occur despite our meticulous packaging methods. If you find that your plant or pot has arrived in a less than satisfactory condition, please reach out to us at hello@plantsforallseasons.co.uk within a month of your delivery date. When contacting us, please provide your order reference, alongside a photo clearly showing the damaged item and its packaging, including the delivery label. We are committed to resolving such issues by offering a refund or a replacement, depending on the availability of the item in question.
We are unable to accept returns that are not related to damage because plants are inherently perishable and delicate. Philodendron ‘Strawberry Shake’ is a highly sought-after, variegated climbing Philodendron known for its striking foliage. This rare hybrid, a mutation of Philodendron erubescens, features leaves with a mix of green, yellow, orange, pink, and red variegation, creating a stunning display. When grown on a moss pole, it develops larger leaves and stronger aerial roots, enhancing its climbing habit and overall appearance.
The leaves of Philodendron ‘Strawberry Shake’ are elongated and heart-shaped with a glossy texture. Their colour pattern varies depending on light exposure and plant maturity, displaying shades of deep green mixed with bright splashes of yellow, orange, pink, and red. New leaves often emerge with a reddish-pink hue before maturing into a mix of variegated colours.
This Philodendron is a vining species that thrives when given proper support. Growing it on a moss pole encourages larger leaves, stronger stems, and healthier aerial root attachment. As a tropical epiphyte, it naturally climbs trees in the wild, using aerial roots to anchor itself and absorb moisture.
Philodendron ‘Strawberry Shake’ thrives in bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight can scorch its delicate variegated leaves, while too little light may reduce the vibrancy of its colours. If grown indoors, placing it near an east- or west-facing window is ideal. Grow lights can be used to maintain strong variegation if natural light is insufficient.
This plant prefers warm temperatures between 18–30°C (65–86°F) and is not frost-tolerant. It should be kept above 10°C (50°F) to prevent cold damage.
High humidity (above 60%) encourages healthy growth, larger leaves, and vibrant colours. If humidity is low, using a humidifier, misting occasionally, or placing the plant near a pebble tray can help maintain moisture levels.
Water when the top 3-5 cm of soil feels dry. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so ensure the soil dries slightly between waterings. When using a moss pole, keeping the pole moist but not soaked encourages aerial roots to attach and absorb additional moisture. Reduce watering in winter when the plant’s growth slows.
A well-draining and airy mix is essential to prevent root rot and ensure healthy growth. A good mix includes:
Using a mix that mimics its natural epiphytic environment allows roots to breathe while retaining adequate moisture.
Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser (such as 20-20-20 or 10-10-10) every 2-4 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). A fertiliser with higher nitrogen content encourages leaf growth, while a phosphorus-rich fertiliser can enhance variegation and root development. Reduce feeding in autumn and winter.
Repot every 2-3 years or when the plant becomes root-bound. Use a pot with drainage holes to prevent excess water retention. Choose a slightly larger pot each time to allow space for new growth without holding too much moisture.
Propagation is best done through stem cuttings:
