With Plants for all Seasons's Live Delivery Guarantee, you can shop with complete peace of mind, knowing that your green investments are protected from our nursery to your doorstep.
Due to the sensitive and breakable nature of our products, it's understandable that damages may occur despite our meticulous packaging methods. If you find that your plant or pot has arrived in a less than satisfactory condition, please reach out to us at hello@plantsforallseasons.co.uk within a month of your delivery date. When contacting us, please provide your order reference, alongside a photo clearly showing the damaged item and its packaging, including the delivery label. We are committed to resolving such issues by offering a refund or a replacement, depending on the availability of the item in question.
We are unable to accept returns that are not related to damage because plants are inherently perishable and delicate. It's also worth noting that the plant you receive may slightly differ from the images displayed on our website. This variation is natural, given that each plant is unique and subject to seasonal growth changes.
At Plants for all Seasons, we recognise the critical role our courier partners play in ensuring the safe and secure delivery of your plants. Variegated Thaumatophyllum (formerly classified under Philodendron) is a bold and highly sought-after tropical specimen known for its deeply lobed, dramatic foliage streaked and splashed with shades of cream, yellow, and pale green. This variegated form of Thaumatophyllum bipinnatifidum (also known as Philodendron selloum) offers all the lush, jungle-like texture of the species, but with a striking, artistic twist thanks to its unpredictable and vibrant variegation. Native to South America, this plant develops into a large, tree-like specimen over time, supported by a thick, woody stem and aerial roots. It’s a fantastic choice for plant lovers looking to make a statement in bright interiors, conservatories, or botanical displays. Though impressive in scale, Variegated Thaumatophyllum is surprisingly easy to care for once established — rewarding consistent light, warmth, and space with extraordinary foliage.
Indoors: Requires bright, indirect light to maintain strong variegation.
Too much sun: Harsh, direct light may cause scorching of the variegated areas.
Too little light: Leads to leggy growth and loss of variegation (reverting to green).
Ideal temperature: 18–28°C (65–82°F)
Minimum temperature: Keep above 13°C (55°F); avoid cold draughts or temperature fluctuations.
Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity. Benefits from regular misting, pebble trays, or a humidifier.
Watering frequency: Water when the top 5–7 cm of soil feels dry. Keep the soil consistently moist, but not soggy.
Water tip: Use filtered water if possible, and avoid wetting the leaves excessively to prevent spotting.
Winter: Water less frequently as growth slows.
Soil type: Rich, well-draining aroid mix — houseplant compost blended with orchid bark, perlite, and a touch of coco coir.
pH: Slightly acidic to neutral (5.5–7.0)
Repotting: Every 1–2 years or when rootbound. Use a sturdy pot to support large, top-heavy growth.
Growing season (spring–summer): Feed every 4 weeks with a balanced liquid fertiliser or one slightly higher in nitrogen to support foliage.
Autumn–winter: Reduce feeding or pause if growth slows significantly.
Pruning: Remove yellow, damaged, or older leaves as needed. Can be pruned to control height or shape.
Leaf care: Wipe large leaves gently with a damp cloth to remove dust and highlight variegation.
Support: May benefit from a moss pole or stake if growing tall indoors.
Stem cuttings or division: Can be propagated via division of basal offshoots or cuttings with aerial roots. Best done in spring.
Air layering: Effective for mature stems if propagation is desired without full separation.
Common pests: Spider mites, scale, and thrips — particularly in dry indoor air.
Symptoms: Yellowing, spotting, curling leaves, or webbing.
Treatment: Wipe down foliage and treat with neem oil or insecticidal soap. Improve airflow and humidity.
Common issues:
Browning edges: Usually caused by low humidity or inconsistent watering.
Loss of variegation: Typically due to low light — move to a brighter location.
Toxicity: Toxic if ingested by pets or humans. Contains calcium oxalates that can cause irritation or swelling.
Precaution: Keep out of reach of children and animals.
