With Plants for all Seasons's Live Delivery Guarantee, you can shop with complete peace of mind, knowing that your green investments are protected from our nursery to your doorstep.
Due to the sensitive and breakable nature of our products, it's understandable that damages may occur despite our meticulous packaging methods. If you find that your plant or pot has arrived in a less than satisfactory condition, please reach out to us at hello@plantsforallseasons.co.uk within a month of your delivery date. When contacting us, please provide your order reference, alongside a photo clearly showing the damaged item and its packaging, including the delivery label. We are committed to resolving such issues by offering a refund or a replacement, depending on the availability of the item in question.
We are unable to accept returns that are not related to damage because plants are inherently perishable and delicate. It's also worth noting that the plant you receive may slightly differ from the images displayed on our website. This variation is natural, given that each plant is unique and subject to seasonal growth changes.
At Plants for all Seasons, we recognise the critical role our courier partners play in ensuring the safe and secure delivery of your plants. We collaborate exclusively with leading courier services, renowned for their reliability and exceptional handling practices, to ensure your plants arrive in perfect condition. Sansevieria masoniana ‘Aurea’, commonly known as the Variegated Whale Fin, is a rare and highly collectable cultivar of Sansevieria masoniana, celebrated for its bold, architectural presence and stunning golden-yellow variegation. Named for its enormous, paddle-shaped leaves that resemble the dorsal fin of a whale, this plant typically produces just one or a few upright, broad leaves at a time, each richly mottled with green and streaked with creamy yellow or gold. Native to Central Africa, S. masoniana is naturally adapted to dry, arid conditions, making it one of the easiest houseplants to care for — especially for those who prefer a more hands-off approach. The ‘Aurea’ variety elevates this already dramatic species with spectacular colour contrast and modern design appeal. Perfect for contemporary interiors, minimalist styling, or collectors of rare and variegated succulents.
Indoors: Prefers bright, indirect light to bring out the strongest variegation.
Direct sun: Can tolerate some gentle direct sun (morning or late afternoon) but avoid harsh midday rays.
Low light: Will survive, but variegation may fade and growth will slow significantly.
Ideal temperature: 18–28°C (65–82°F)
Minimum temperature: Keep above 10°C (50°F); protect from cold draughts and frosty windowsills.
Humidity: Tolerant of all household humidity levels. Thrives in dry air — no misting required.
Watering frequency: Very low. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings.
Tip: Water sparingly — especially in winter. It’s far more tolerant of underwatering than overwatering.
Overwatering signs: Yellowing leaves, soft or mushy base (potential rot).
Soil type: Very well-draining — use cactus or succulent compost with added perlite or coarse sand.
pH: Slightly acidic to neutral (6.0–7.0)
Repotting: Every 2–3 years or when rootbound. Use a sturdy, heavy pot to support upright growth.
Growing season (spring–summer): Feed once every 6–8 weeks with a diluted cactus or succulent fertiliser.
Autumn–winter: No feeding required.
Pruning: Not usually needed. Remove old or damaged leaves by cutting at the base with a clean blade.
Leaf care: Wipe leaves occasionally with a dry or slightly damp cloth to remove dust and enhance natural sheen.
Rhizome division: Easiest and most reliable method during repotting.
Leaf cuttings: Possible, but variegation is often not retained in pups from cuttings.
Very pest-resistant. Occasionally affected by mealybugs or spider mites in dry or dusty conditions.
Common issues:
Leaf yellowing or base rot: Almost always due to overwatering or poor drainage.
Leaf splitting or curling: Usually due to very dry air or sudden temperature changes.
Toxicity: Mildly toxic to pets and humans if ingested. May cause nausea or irritation.
Precaution: Keep out of reach of pets and children prone to chewing plants.
A bold, sculptural statement plant for modern interiors and plant collectors.
Perfect for sunny windowsills, shelves, and corners with bright natural light.
One of the lowest-maintenance houseplants available — thrives on neglect.
Combines beautifully with other drought-tolerant species like Zamioculcas, Aloe, and Cereus.
A rare and highly desirable addition to any variegated plant collection.
