Due to the sensitive and breakable nature of our products, it's understandable that damages may occur despite our meticulous packaging methods. If you find that your plant or pot has arrived in a less than satisfactory condition, please reach out to us at hello@plantsforallseasons.co.uk within a month of your delivery date. When contacting us, please provide your order reference, alongside a photo clearly showing the damaged item and its packaging, including the delivery label. We are committed to resolving such issues by offering a refund or a replacement, depending on the availability of the item in question.
We are unable to accept returns that are not related to damage because plants are inherently perishable and delicate. It's also worth noting that the plant you receive may slightly differ from the images displayed on our website. This variation is natural, given that each plant is unique and subject to seasonal growth changes.
At Plants for all Seasons, we recognise the critical role our courier partners play in ensuring the safe and secure delivery of your plants. We collaborate exclusively with leading courier services, renowned for their reliability and exceptional handling practices, to ensure your plants arrive in perfect condition. Hoya sp. 'Ternate' is a rare and collectable tropical climber, named after Ternate Island in Indonesia, where it was first discovered. Like other members of the Hoya genus, it’s often referred to as a Wax Plant, owing to its thick, waxy leaves and porcelain-like flowers. This species is known for its elongated, glossy green foliage — sometimes lightly veined or slightly crinkled — and its tendency to grow vigorously in bright, warm conditions. Given time and care, it produces clusters of star-shaped, sweetly fragrant flowers, typically soft pink or creamy white, which emerge in umbels from short stalks (peduncles) that rebloom over time. Hoya sp. 'Ternate' is ideal for trailing from shelves or hanging baskets, or training up a support or moss pole. It’s a must-have for Hoya collectors and lovers of vining, easy-care indoor plants with a touch of floral charm.
Indoors: Prefers bright, indirect light. Ideal near an east- or west-facing window.
Direct sun: Tolerates gentle morning sun but avoid harsh midday rays which can scorch the foliage.
Low light: Slows growth and may prevent flowering.
Ideal temperature: 18–28°C (65–82°F)
Minimum temperature: Keep above 12°C (54°F)
Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity. Benefits from regular misting or a nearby humidifier.
Watering frequency: Allow the top 3–5 cm of soil to dry before watering. Hoyas dislike sitting in wet soil.
Tip: Water sparingly in winter. Use room-temperature water.
Sign of underwatering: Wrinkled or soft leaves.
Sign of overwatering: Yellowing leaves or root rot.
Soil type: Very well-draining mix. Use an airy blend of orchid bark, perlite, coco coir, and houseplant compost.
pH: Slightly acidic to neutral (5.5–7.0)
Repotting: Every 2–3 years or when rootbound. Hoyas prefer to be slightly snug in their pots.
Growing season (spring–summer): Feed monthly with a balanced, diluted liquid fertiliser or orchid feed.
Autumn–winter: Feeding can be reduced or paused while growth slows.
Pruning: Minimal. Only prune to control length or remove dead stems.
Flowering tip: Do not remove the peduncles (flower spurs) — new blooms return to the same points.
Cleaning: Wipe leaves gently with a damp cloth to keep foliage healthy and glossy.
Stem cuttings: Very easy to propagate. Take a node-bearing cutting and root in water, moss, or moist compost.
Best time: Spring or early summer for fastest rooting.
Common pests: Mealybugs, aphids, and spider mites.
Symptoms: Sticky residue, curling leaves, or visible insects.
Treatment: Wipe down foliage and treat with neem oil or insecticidal soap.
Common issues:
No flowers: Often due to insufficient light or overly frequent pruning.
Leaf drop: Usually caused by overwatering or cold drafts.
Toxicity: Generally considered non-toxic to pets and humans.
Safe plant: A great choice for pet-friendly households.
