The leaves are dark green and have a glossy texture. In mid to late summer, the plant produces clusters of showy, star-shaped flowers on long stalks. The flowers are bright yellow and have five petals with prominent yellow stamens in the center. The blooms attract pollinators, such as bees and butterflies. After flowering, small capsules containing seeds develop.
