Due to the sensitive and breakable nature of our products, it's understandable that damages may occur despite our meticulous packaging methods. If you find that your plant or pot has arrived in a less than satisfactory condition, please reach out to us at hello@plantsforallseasons.co.uk within a month of your delivery date. When contacting us, please provide your order reference, alongside a photo clearly showing the damaged item and its packaging, including the delivery label. We are committed to resolving such issues by offering a refund or a replacement, depending on the availability of the item in question.
We are unable to accept returns that are not related to damage because plants are inherently perishable and delicate. It's also worth noting that the plant you receive may slightly differ from the images displayed on our website. This variation is natural, given that each plant is unique and subject to seasonal growth changes.

Oxalis triangularis ‘Mijke’, commonly known as the Purple Shamrock or False Shamrock, is an elegant ornamental plant native to South America. A member of the Oxalidaceae family, this variety is admired for its rich, velvety purple foliage and delicate pale pink or white flowers.
The ‘Mijke’ cultivar is a refined selection known for its particularly deep, vibrant colouration and compact growth. The plant features distinctive triangular, clover-like leaves that fold closed at night or during low light — a fascinating movement known as nyctinasty. By day, the leaves open wide to reveal their satiny texture and jewel-like tones, creating a dynamic and ever-changing display.
In spring and summer, slender stems rise above the foliage, bearing clusters of soft pink blooms that contrast beautifully with the dark purple leaves. Compact and easy to grow, Oxalis triangularis ‘Mijke’ makes an ideal choice for windowsills, tabletops, and containers, bringing a touch of sophistication to any setting.
Thrives in bright, indirect light. It can tolerate gentle morning or late-afternoon sun, which enhances the rich purple leaf colour. Avoid harsh midday sunlight, which can fade or scorch the foliage.
Keep the soil lightly moist during the growing season. Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feels dry. Reduce watering in winter when the plant becomes dormant and leaves naturally die back.
Temperature: Prefers 18–26°C. Avoid temperatures below 10°C, especially during dormancy.
Humidity: Adapts well to average indoor humidity levels.
Use a light, free-draining peat-free compost. Adding perlite or grit improves drainage. Repot every 2–3 years in spring, separating the small tubers (rhizomes) if you wish to propagate new plants.
Feed every 4–6 weeks in spring and summer with a diluted balanced fertiliser. Stop feeding during the dormant winter period.
Remove faded flowers and old leaves at the base to keep the plant tidy. If the plant enters dormancy and loses all its leaves, reduce watering completely and store in a cool, dry place until new shoots appear (usually after 6–8 weeks).
A fast-growing, compact plant reaching 15–25 cm tall and wide. With proper care, it will regrow each year from its tubers.
Yellowing leaves: Overwatering or poor drainage.
Pale foliage: Too little light.
Leaves closing in daylight: Sign of stress, such as overwatering or temperature changes.
Pests: Occasionally aphids or spider mites.
Oxalis triangularis is native to Brazil and other parts of South America and has long been prized for its beauty and movement. The ‘Mijke’ variety is particularly valued for its darker, more uniform purple foliage. Compact, hardy, and endlessly elegant, it adds a graceful, decorative touch to indoor spaces and patios alike.
