Due to the sensitive and breakable nature of our products, it's understandable that damages may occur despite our meticulous packaging methods. If you find that your plant or pot has arrived in a less than satisfactory condition, please reach out to us at hello@plantsforallseasons.co.uk within a month of your delivery date. When contacting us, please provide your order reference, alongside a photo clearly showing the damaged item and its packaging, including the delivery label. We are committed to resolving such issues by offering a refund or a replacement, depending on the availability of the item in question.
We are unable to accept returns that are not related to damage because plants are inherently perishable and delicate. Hoya 'Puom Siam Ruby' is a rare and striking hybrid known for its stunning foliage and deep red flowers. This unique variety originates from Thailand and belongs to the Apocynaceae family. Its vibrant blooms and easy-care nature make it a highly desirable plant for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
The leaves of Hoya 'Puom Siam Ruby' are thick, glossy, and slightly succulent. They are typically deep green, sometimes with a reddish hue around the edges when exposed to bright light. The leathery texture of the leaves allows the plant to retain moisture, making it somewhat drought-tolerant.
The flowers are the highlight of this plant, forming beautiful umbel-like clusters. They are deep ruby red, velvety in texture, and have a star-shaped appearance. The blooms emit a sweet fragrance, particularly in the evening, and can last for several days. Flowering is more frequent in warm, humid conditions with proper light exposure.
As a vining epiphyte, Hoya 'Puom Siam Ruby' grows by twining around supports, making it ideal for trellises, moss poles, or hanging baskets. It has a moderate growth rate and will thrive when given the right balance of warmth, humidity, and light.
This Hoya prefers bright, indirect light. Too much direct sunlight can scorch its leaves, while insufficient light may slow growth and reduce flowering. If grown indoors, an east- or west-facing window is ideal. Some gentle morning sun can help encourage blooming and intensify the red tones in the leaves.
Hoya 'Puom Siam Ruby' thrives in warm temperatures between 18–30°C (65–86°F). It is not frost-tolerant and should always be kept above 10°C (50°F). High humidity (above 60%) is preferred, though it can adapt to moderate humidity levels. If indoor air is too dry, misting or using a humidifier will help maintain optimal conditions.
Water when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. The plant prefers to dry out slightly between waterings to prevent root rot. Reduce watering in winter when the plant’s growth slows. Always use room-temperature, non-chlorinated water to avoid shocking the roots.
A well-draining, aerated mix is essential. A suitable mix includes orchid bark, perlite or pumice, coco coir or peat moss, and a small amount of charcoal for drainage. This prevents excess moisture retention and supports healthy root development.
Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser every 2-4 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). A fertiliser with higher phosphorus content can be used to encourage flowering. Reduce feeding in autumn and winter when the plant’s growth slows.
Repot every 2-3 years or when the roots outgrow the pot. Choose a container with drainage holes to prevent excess moisture retention. A terracotta or breathable plastic pot is ideal for maintaining healthy root conditions.
Pruning helps control the plant’s shape and encourages bushier growth. Avoid cutting off flower peduncles, as Hoyas bloom repeatedly from the same nodes. Wipe the leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust and improve photosynthesis.
Propagation is best done through stem cuttings. Cuttings should include at least one node and can be rooted in water, sphagnum moss, or a well-draining mix. Rooting typically takes 2-6 weeks, depending on temperature and humidity.
