Lythrum

Lythrum is a genus of flowering plants that belongs to the family Lythraceae. They are commonly known as "loosestrife" because of the similarity of their leaves to those of the unrelated plant family Primulaceae. Lythrum plants are native to Europe, Asia, and North America, and are now grown in many other parts of the world as ornamental plants.

Lythrum plants have upright stems that can reach up to four feet in height. The flowers are typically purple, pink, or white, and are arranged in spikes. The foliage of Lythrum plants is often green and can be quite ornamental, with lance-shaped leaves.
