Due to the sensitive and breakable nature of our products, it's understandable that damages may occur despite our meticulous packaging methods. If you find that your plant or pot has arrived in a less than satisfactory condition, please reach out to us at hello@plantsforallseasons.co.uk within a month of your delivery date. When contacting us, please provide your order reference, alongside a photo clearly showing the damaged item and its packaging, including the delivery label. We are committed to resolving such issues by offering a refund or a replacement, depending on the availability of the item in question.
We are unable to accept returns that are not related to damage because plants are inherently perishable and delicate. Sansevieria ‘Black Diamond’ is a striking and rare cultivar of the Snake Plant, celebrated for its deep, dramatic foliage. Originating from the resilient Sansevieria trifasciata group, this cultivar combines the toughness of the species with a bold, almost gothic aesthetic that makes it stand out in any collection.
The plant forms upright rosettes of sword-shaped leaves in a dark, nearly black-green, often with subtle silvery streaks or markings. Mature leaves have a matte, velvety finish that enhances the richness of their colour, while younger leaves may display slightly lighter green tones before deepening as they mature. Growing typically to 40–70 cm tall, ‘Black Diamond’ offers a strong architectural presence without taking up excessive space.
Thanks to its sleek form and moody colouring, this cultivar is especially popular for modern and minimalist interiors, where it provides a bold statement plant with very little maintenance required.
Best in bright, indirect light, though it tolerates medium and low-light conditions. More light enhances the dark tones of the foliage. Avoid prolonged harsh direct sun, which may bleach the leaves.
Water sparingly. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. In spring and summer, this usually means watering every 2–3 weeks; in winter, reduce to once a month or less. Overwatering is the most common problem and can quickly lead to root rot.
Temperature: Prefers 16–26°C. Avoid cold draughts and do not expose to temperatures below 10°C.
Humidity: Very tolerant of dry indoor air, making it ideal for centrally heated rooms.
Use a gritty, free-draining cactus or succulent compost. Repot every 2–3 years in spring if root-bound, but avoid overly large pots. Heavy containers are recommended to stabilise the tall leaves.
Apply a diluted cactus or succulent fertiliser once a month during the growing season (spring and summer). Stop feeding in autumn and winter.
Remove damaged or yellowing leaves at the base. Wipe foliage occasionally with a damp cloth to highlight its dark sheen and remove dust.
A slow to moderate grower, producing new rosettes from its base over time. Mature plants form dense clumps that can be divided if desired. Flowering is rare indoors, but mature specimens may occasionally send up spikes of fragrant greenish-white blooms.
Mushy leaves: Almost always caused by overwatering.
Lighter or faded leaves: May indicate insufficient light.
Pests: Rare, though mealybugs and spider mites can occur in dry conditions.
Snake plants have been cultivated for centuries, symbolising resilience and protection in many cultures. Sansevieria ‘Black Diamond’ brings a contemporary twist, combining this heritage with a unique dark-leaved form that fits effortlessly into modern décor. Like all Sansevieria, it also filters indoor air pollutants, adding health benefits alongside its dramatic beauty.
