FAQs
Are Philodendrons poisonous?
Yes, Philodendrons are poisonous to humans and pets. If consumed, they can cause burning and swollen lips, tongue and throat as well as vomiting and diarrhoea. If you have pets, keep your Philodendron plants away from the floor and out of reach of children. We also recommend thoroughly washing your hands after handling or repotting the plant or wearing gloves to protect yourself.
What kind of soil for Philodendron?
Philodendrons prefer loose, well-drained soil that is high in organic matter. Well draining soil is best because you don’t want the roots to stay wet as it can lead to root rot in your Philodendron. We stock our own range of Philodendron Potting Soil so you don’t need to worry about making sure your plant has the soil it needs.
How long do Philodendrons live?
A healthy Philodendron that is properly looked after and provided with the right growing conditions can live for up to 20 years. In the wild, they can even live up to 100 years!
